ABOUT US AND OUR HISTORY

The original Mex

First established in the early 80’s by Lawrence D’Arcy & Frank Filia, the first incarnation of the business was located in the “Main Street” of Ocean Grove. Originally called ‘Mexican Graffiti’, an uber cool and 80s-esque style with a menu well ahead of its time, the restaurant soon became the ‘go-to’ place for locals.

THE EXPANSION

After a few years of successful operation, the opportunity to grow and expand presented itself, and the business shifted to where it’s located today on Grubb Rd.

Frank Filia was brought on board for the move and the building formerly named “Finnigans”, as well as the land at the rear of the building (which was once a zoo) was purchased and the new expansion was on the horizon.

The move proved to be a successful hit with the locals, and the bar was added to the building as the restaurant quickly grew in popularity.

This change of location called for a fresh and updated name change for the business, this is where ‘The Mex’ was born!

FuTURE PLANS
